Loch Laggan is a freshwater lake in the Scottish highlands. It is located in the Highland Council Area about seven miles west of Dalwhinnie .
Loch Laggan has the typical elongated shape of a lake created by glaciers in the Ice Age . It is about 11 km long, but on average only 700 m wide. Loch Laggan drains over the River Spean. Its main tributary is the River Pattack. Since 1934 the lake has been part of the Lochaber hydro-electric scheme , which is used to generate electricity from hydropower .
The banks of Loch Laggan are largely uninhabited. They are mostly wooded, but sometimes also as grassland. The north-west bank of the loch is accessed by the A86 . On the south-east bank is the Ardverikie House , which was used as the backdrop for some scenes in the James Bond film No Time to Die . On the east bank is the largest offshore sandy beach in Great Britain .
