Mohammed Aouad

Mohammed Aouad ( Arabic محمد عواد, DMG Muḥammad ʿAwwād ; * January 13, 1922 in Salé ; † February 22, 2007 ) was a Moroccan politician and diplomat .

Life

After attending the primary school in Salé and the collège Moulay Youssef in Rabat, Mohammed Aouad completed a degree in Arabic language and law at the University of Paris . He was general director in the royal cabinet of King Mohammed V and was accredited as ambassador to Spain between 1957 and 1958 . In the government of Prime Minister Ahmed Balafrej , he was Minister of Post, Telegraph and Telephone (Ministre des Postes, télégraphes et téléphones) between May 12 and December 3, 1958 . He then served from December 24, 1958 to May 21, 1960 as Minister of National Defense (Ministre de la Défense nationale) in the cabinet of Abdallah Ibrahim . At the same time he was again Minister for Post, Telegraph and Telephone from 1959 to 1960.

Aouad was also ambassador to Algeria between 1962 and 1964 and then from 1964 to 1967 ambassador to Tunisia . On January 22nd, 1980 he became an advisor to King Hassan II and also in 1980 a member of the Regency Council.
