history

AB Elektronik was founded in 1967 as the sales office of AB Electronic Ltd., GB. In the following year, rotary resistors and rotary switches for the entertainment industry were manufactured for the first time . In 1974, the company entered the industrial electronics market . In 1976 the company entered the automotive industry for which it is known today. In this fader and speed sensors manufactured. In 1981 an electronics laboratory was set up . In the next year one was certified by the VDE according to CEDD . In 1987 Plant II was put into operation in Wahrbrink (Werne), followed by the Saxony plant in Klingenberg near Dresden in 1991 . In 1993, TT Group PLC (renamed TT electronics plc in 2001) took over the parent company. Further certifications took place in 1994 ( DIN ISO (EN 29001) ), 1998 ( QS 9000 VDA 6.1 ) and 2002 ( ISO / TS 16949 ). In 1997 the production of contactless gas pedals began. The first company outsourcing took place in 2002 with the establishment of AB Elektronik Ukraine, Kiev . Due to the global economic crisis , the introduction of short-time working was decided in 2009 and it was announced that 225 of 750 employees at the Werne plant would be laid off. At the beginning of January 2014, the group announced that production in Werne was to be closed and relocated abroad. Only research and development at the Werne site are to continue.
