AB Sparta (after ' Sparta ') is a sock manufacturer in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . The textile company is based in the Naujamiestis district . In 1981 it employed 2,000 people.

history

The company was founded in 1918 as a tricot founded -Fabrik "Vilniaus Karuna" and merged in 1940 with the factory "Elbis". In 1941 the factory was reorganized into the “Pakaita” sock factory. In World War II it was heavily damaged. In the year of the end of the war in 1945, the factory was re-established and merged with the jersey factory "Avangardas". In Soviet Lithuania it became Kojinių ir trikotažo fabrikas “Sparta” . In 1981 they produced socks worth 22.5 million rubles .

After that, the Soviet factory became the Lithuanian state enterprise Valstybinis kojinių-trikotažo fabrikas "Sparta". On December 21, 1991, it was reorganized into Akcinė bendrovė "Sparta". From 1992 to 2007 the company was headed by Petras Zenonas Janavičius. In 2014 "Sparta" employed 160 people.
