The AC 2-liter is a car model from the British car manufacturer AC Cars . It was produced from 1947 to 1956. There were 2-door sedans and, from 1952, 4-door sedans. In addition, a small number of convertibles and "Buckland" touring cars were produced from 1949 onwards.

The six-cylinder - aluminum engine with 1991 cc capacity and wet liners offered AC first time in AC 16 from 1922 on. In 1947, however, the engine was powered by three SU carburettors and made 75 bhp (55 kW) in 1951, the output rose again to 86 bhp (63 kW), more than double the 35 bhp (25.7 kW) that the engine had in 1922 was offered.

The aluminum-clad body with a wooden frame sat on a standard steel frame with two rigid axles that were suspended on semi-elliptical leaf springs. For the first time at AC, the axles were equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers . Until 1951, the cars had partially hydraulic brakes: the front wheels were braked hydraulically, the rear wheels had rope brakes with drums of 304 mm diameter.

Only a few changes were made to the design during the entire construction period, only the wheel diameter increased to 16 "in 1951. A total of 1284 cars were produced in 10 years. The AC 2-liter engine was offered in the AC Aceca until 1963.

A 2-door sedan was tested by the British automobile magazine The Motor in 1948 . It reached a top speed of 128 km / h and accelerated from 0-100 km / h in 20 s. The petrol consumption was determined to be 12 l / 100 km. The test car cost £ 1277 including taxes.
