The AC Mutterstadt , complete Athleten-Club 1892 Mutterstadt e. V. , is a sports club in the Palatinate municipality of Mutterstadt ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) that practices weightlifting .

history

In 1892 the Free Athletes Club Mutterstadt was founded, which later merged with the Bürgerliche Athleten Club Mutterstadt to form the United Free Athletes Club Mutterstadt . The club called itself AC Mutterstadt for short . After the ban during the Nazi era , the new general sports club was created after the Second World War , in which the weightlifters were also integrated and which was renamed TSG Mutterstadt in 1951. The weightlifters left TSG in 1969 and re-founded AC Mutterstadt.

The mother-city weightlifters became 12 times German team champion and 15 times runner-up from 1957 . AC Mutterstadt is the second most successful club in Germany after TSV 1860 Munich (14 times team champion). For years he fought in the 1st weightlifting Bundesliga , until in 2002 the remuneration of top athletes exceeded the financial framework and the team had to be withdrawn from the Bundesliga.
