ADAC Procar season 2014

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ADAC Procar season 2014 took place at 8 different season stations, most of which were driven in Germany, but also races in the Netherlands and Austria. The majority of the races were held as part of the ADAC Masters Weekend .
This season the ADAC Procar started in three divisions. Heiko Hammel, Alexander Rambow and Steve Kirsch became champions in their divisions.

background

For the 2014 season, some rule changes came into force for Division 1, as the number of starters has been declining for years due to the costly S2000 regulations (costs per car / year: € 150,000). It was decided that the new Division 1 regulations from 2011 will be pushed ahead, in which, similar to the origin of the DTC, attention should be paid to cost control and brand diversity (costs per car / year € 70,000–80,000). The new regulations provided for 1.6L turbo engines and near-series condition of the bodies and axles. The key points of the new regulations for Division 1 include a specification on original turbochargers and engines with max. 1625 cm³³ displacement with max. 2.5 bar boost pressure, serial transmission, min. 1100 kilograms including driver, 17 "wheels and the maximum size of brakes were stipulated. The cars had about 300 hp and were 1.5 seconds slower than the S2000 cars towards the end of the season, but at half the price. The year 2014 was intended as the last transition year, which is why the S2000 cars were still registered. These were used sporadically, but the championship was run for the first time in the history of the DTC under the 1.6L turbos,
after being in Division 1 in the years In 2012 and 2013 the number of starters continuously declined due to the high costs, the future of the entire series was uncertain, as the vehicles in Division 2 alone could not carry the series, but the 2014 season could end with the addition of the Mini John Cooper Works The Mini Trophy, which was discontinued in 2013, will be held in its own division (Division M, or Division 3), and many of the well-known drivers from the former Mini-R ennserien were again at the start in the ADAC Procar.
The competition mode was also changed for the 2014 season. So far there have been two free training sessions on every weekend of the event, which took place on Friday and Saturday. This was followed by qualification training on Saturday and both races on Sunday. The innovation was that the free practice session on Saturday was canceled and a qualifying session and a race took place on Saturday and Sunday. This meant that the starting grid for the following race was determined on each day of qualification. So there were two separate qualifications on one race weekend.
