The AIDS Memorial is a memorial in the historic Peterskirchhof in Frankfurt am Main , which commemorates the AIDS dead. It was designed by Tom Fecht . It uses an angle in the retaining wall of St. Peter's Church . The words wounded love are carved there. In memory of everyone who died of AIDS in Frankfurt in the past year , a nail will be hammered into the wall on December 1st - World AIDS Day .

The AIDS Memorial was erected in close proximity to the Frankfurter Engel , the memorial dedicated to the victims of homosexual persecution, and also in close proximity to the angel in December 1994 and presented to the public with a ceremony in the Paulskirche .

The AIDS Memorial, together with the neighboring Frankfurter Engel, is the traditional point of contact for the procession of the ecumenical opening service on Christopher Street Day in Frankfurt .
