The AMT Hardballer is a replica of the Colt M1911 , although the individual parts are not compatible with other components from the 1911.
This weapon has been produced by Arcadia Machine and Tool , AMT for short , since 1977 , originally as a sporting weapon. This pistol was the first modification of the 1911 series that was made entirely of stainless steel . Special features are the adjustable rear visor and the improved grip protection. There are also many changes that can be made to the gun, including: B. screwing on a silencer or larger magazines. This is particularly beneficial for sporting events .
The weapon was given the nickname "Hardballer" due to the fact that initially only cartridges with full-jacket bullets ( English colloquial hardballs ) could be reliably supplied. This problem has been addressed with various modifications to the charging system.
Model variants
AMT Combat Government
The original Hardballer was designed as a sports model, but in 1978 a police version called Combat Government was launched. In this series the visors were fixed. Since 1985 the model has only been called "Government", "Combat" has been omitted.
AMT Hardballer Longslide
A version of the gun with an extended 178 mm barrel was introduced under the name AMT Hardballer Longslide in 1980. The version had the same features as the normal Hardballer, only the barrel and slide were extended by 51 mm.
AMT skipper
Also in 1980, a more compact weapon called the Skipper was launched. The main feature was a only 102 mm (4 inch) barrel. However, this model disappeared from the market in 1984.
AMT Commando
Released in 2000, this weapon is also a compact model. The weapon has the dimensions of the Skipper and the framework of the Government model. The Commando is designed for caliber .40 and also has an 8-round magazine. The special feature here is the so-called gray cast iron .
AMT Accelerator
Also with a cast iron slide, this weapon is designed for the more powerful .400 Corbon caliber.
AMT Javelina
A model designed for 10 mm auto ammunition with an 8-round magazine.
