AN / AAR-57

The AN / AAR-57 ( JETDS designation) or "Common Missile Warning System" (CMWS) is a missile warning system that is intended to warn the crew of helicopters and aircraft about enemy guided missiles . It is produced by the British group BAE Systems .

To detect approaching missiles, the AAR-57 has four to six passive optical wide-angle sensors that can detect, track and identify the exhaust plume of guided missiles. It is an integral part of the AN / ALQ-212 - Eloka complex and remains operational even with strong maneuvers in the transonic speed range.

In September 2007 BAE Systems delivered the 1,000th system to the United States Army , which equips large parts of its helicopter fleet with the AAR-57.
