The ASC Nienburg (officially: General Sport Club Nienburg von 1911 eV ) is a sports club from Nienburg / Weser in Lower Saxony . The club has been a pure football club since the annual general meeting on February 28, 2014. The boxing , judo and handball divisions separated from the club over the past few years. The handball division joined the HSG Nienburg . The first men's soccer team of the club, founded in 1911, played at times in the Lower Saxony league . Former national player Jens Todt and former Northern Irish national goalkeeper Maik Taylor played in the youth team of ASC Nienburg.

The ASC Nienburg was founded in 1911 according to the charter. In 1952 they merged with the ATSV Nienburg, which was founded in 1945. The first years after the merger of the two clubs were comparatively successful. So they played in the amateur league of Lower Saxony until 1955 , and in 1952 the team of Hannover 96 was beaten in the cup. The first low point in the club's history came in the 1970s, when they were relegated to the 1st district class. In the following years the club played its way up again, in 1981 they became champions in the Hanover regional league. In the 1986/87 season they took part in the promotion rounds to what was then the third-highest football league .

In the following years the club established itself in the Landesliga Hannover, the A-youth of ASC Nienburg played in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons in the Lower Saxony league. Due to financial problems, the ASC Nienburg withdrew after relegation from the Landesliga Hannover to the 1st district class North. In 2012/13 he was promoted to the Nienburg district league. In 2017, the ASC rose to the district league and had to relegate again after just one season.

Sports facilities Mußriede

The ASC plays its home games in the Mußriedestadion. There are three large stone stairs on all sides of the playing field. There is also a three-tier covered wooden grandstand on the main grandstand. The stadium has a total of around 5,000 spectators. The Mußriedestadion was the venue for the quarter-finals of the 1997 U-16 European Football Championship between Belgium and Switzerland.

Fans

Since the 2008/09 season, the ASC also has its first fan club, the “12th Man”. Over 100 spectators regularly come to the club's home games. Several supporters also accompany the team away from home.
