Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget ( ASEA ) was a Swedish electrical engineering company . On February 8, 1988, the group merged its business with the Swiss company Brown, Boveri & Cie (BBC) to form Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) with headquarters in Zurich ( Switzerland ). With the Swede Percy Barnevik, ASEA provided the first CEO of ABB.
history
The company was founded in Stockholm in 1883 as Elektriska Aktiebolaget . In the first half of the 20th century, a technique for high-voltage direct current transmission was developed. Among other things, the company worked on the development and production of electrical equipment for locomotives , trams and multiple units.
After the seizure of power of the Nazis in Germany in 1933 was company logo changed, the hitherto mainly of a swastika was. In 1950, ASEA turned to the field of nuclear energy with its subsidiary ASEA Atom .
