from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association Sportive Montigny-le-Bretonneux is a sports club from the municipality of Montigny-le-Bretonneux , near Versailles in the Île-de-France . The club has achieved national importance exclusively through its female soccer players , who at times competed at the highest national league level.

history

The entire association was founded in 1971; In 1985 the women's football department was added. This became known especially from the beginning of the 21st century for its good work with young talent. The U16 (2007) and U13 girls (2001 and 2003) made it to the French Cup final. Several particularly talented female soccer players also became youth national players (see the female players section below).

The ASM club colors are black and green. The league eleven play their home games at the local Center sportif de la Couldre , which has around 900 seats.

League affiliation and achievements

The AS Montigny women's team took part in league operations from 1989; In 1993/94 it played third class for the first time. From 2000 to 2014 it belonged - interrupted only by three third division years (2002/03 and 2005–2007) - to at least the second national division. In 2009 the womanhood , which was coached by Catherine Jarriault at that time , even rose to the top division . After a decent start to the season with two wins from the first five encounters, the promoted team soon slipped into the table basement and was already certain to return to Division 2 on the penultimate match day.
In 2014 AS Montigny-le-Bretonneux was even relegated to the regional Division d'Honneur (third league level).

In the national cup competition that has been held since 2001 , the women from Montigny have made it into the main round throughout France six times. At their premiere ( 2003/04 ) and two other participations - including their last so far at this level ( 2012/13 ) - they were eliminated after their first game. In 2004/05 and 2008/09, however, they made it to the round of 16.
