The Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (until 1998 Azienda Tranviaria Municipale Milano ), ATM or ATM Milano for short , is a public transport company in the Italian city ​​of Milan . Today the company operates the Milan underground , tram , trolleybus and bus network .

A subway has been running in Milan since November 1, 1964 . Today ATM operates four lines:

Ventotto tram car

The tram in Milan goes back to the horse-drawn tram that opened on July 8, 1876 . The first electric train was opened on November 1, 1893 by the General Electric Company . This received a concession that ran until 1917, which obliged them to build another 18 lines. After the end of this concession, the lines became the property of the city. For this purpose the Azienda Tramviaria Municipale was founded.
