The ATRACO FC was a Rwandan football club from Kigali . He played his home games at the Kigali Stadium (10,000 seats).

History and background

The ATRACO FC, which was run by the Association of Taxi Companies (Taxi Transporters Association), played under this name in the National Football League from 2006 . As runner-up behind record champions and local rivals APR FC , one point was missing to win the first title. As runner-up, the team took part in the CAF Confederation Cup 2007 , where they failed in the quarter-finals at the Tunisian club EGS Gafsa after a 2-2 home draw and a 1-1 away draw due to the away goals rule .

The first title win came in 2008, when the series of three championship titles in a row of the local competitor was ended. This allowed the team to participate in the CAF Champions League 2009 , but failed there in the preliminary round against the Sudanese representative Al-Merreikh Omdurman . In the championship, the club fought head-to-head with APR FC, which ultimately fell out in favor of their city rivals in the event of a tie due to the better goal difference . Nevertheless, the year was not without title wins: on the one hand, the team won the CECAFA Club Cup after taking revenge against al-Merrikh Khartoum with a 1-0 final victory after a goal by Hamis Kitagenda and, on the other hand, Kitagenda was also the match winner in the final of the national cup , when the team prevailed with a goal from him with a 1-0 win against Mukura Victory Sports . In 2010 the club was again runner-up behind APR FC, but after the end of the season the team withdrew from the game.
