history

History of ATV Marburg

Beginnings

Connection house at Kaffweg 11

The ATV Marburg was founded on July 22nd, 1888 by two Munich and three Berlin ATVs and two Füchsen. In the winter semester of 1888/1889, ATV Marburg was accepted into the Academic Gymnastics Association (ATB) . Without its own fraternity house, ATV Marburg used the gymnastics garden in its early years, which it was even considering buying, for regular meetings. On July 29, 1899, it was decided to purchase a piece of land on the AH day. On January 1, 1904, the property at 11 Kaffweg was acquired. Construction of the house began on June 17, 1912, and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on September 21 of the same year. On March 13, 1913, the liaison house was inaugurated for the 25th foundation festival. The year 1912 represented the high point of the growth of ATV Marburg, so that a subsidiary , ATV Kurhessen , was founded that year. In the following years, especially between 1914 and 1919, the ATV recorded little active operation, as many members were at war. After the First World War , the ATV experienced little growth, as many students opted for colored connections. After another large number of visitors, the "ATV Kurhessen" was founded again in 1927 after being suspended in the meantime. In 1928 ATV Kurhessen had 20, and ATV Marburg even 33 new ones.

National Socialism

After the National Socialists came to power , there were repeated clashes between the SA and the Marburg corporations because they refused to obey the instructions of the Marburg student storm leader. During this time the connection grew almost entirely, since almost all new students were involved in the Hitler Youth or the NSDAP and were given a different orientation there. Since the NSDAP also seized power at the universities in the form of the NSDStB , the ATV Marburg had to change its name. In November 1935, the Aktivitas of ATV Marburg joined the Reichsbund for Physical Education as a comradeship "ATV Marburg" in order to be recognized as a gymnastics club. At their own request, the comradeship received the name "Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn" from the Reich Student Leader on June 22, 1938. Analogous to this, there was a "former NS rule of the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn comradeship". On May 14, 1938, the last length of the ATV Marburg was struck.

During a major air raid, the hospital's surgery department fell victim to the bombs. On March 6, 1945, the first and second floors of the ATV Marburg building were rented to the surgery department as alternative quarters. This made it impossible for the Americans to confiscate the house after the war ended. The only rooms available to the active were the bowling alley as well as the Paukboden .

After the Second World War

After the war, the ATV Marburg's Aktivitas was called "Student Sports Association Kurhessen". The old gentlemen's association was called the "Marburg Association of Old University Athletes". In the winter semester 1947/48 there was a semester program again and at the beginning of the summer semester 1950 Aktivitas took on the traditional name "ATV Marburg" again. On February 5, 1950 the ATB was re-established on the house of ATV Marburg and it also provided its suburb.

As a result of the 1968 movement, Aktivitas no longer adhered to its traditions, so that the AHV decided on February 1, 1975 to dissolve Aktivitas. The re-establishment of the Aktivitas with some of the old activists and some old men was tedious, so that the everyday connection only returned in the winter semester 78/79.

In the summer semester of 1996, the senior at ATV Marburg signed the “Marburg Declaration” on behalf of his activism, which was accompanied by his temporary exit from the Marburger Korporierte Ring (MKR).

History of the ATV Kurhessen

Beginnings

An excessive increase in membership caused the ATV Marburg to found the ATV Kurhessen on March 2, 1912. This strong increase came to an abrupt end with the First World War, which resulted in the suspension on July 5, 1921. A renewed upswing of the members of ATV Marburg resulted in a new establishment with Kommers on February 19, 1927 at the ATV Marburg house. In addition to the three "old Kurhessen", 25 AHAH of ATV Marburg joined the AHV of Kurhessen, whereby all 28 also remained AHAH of ATV Marburg. 30 active and inactive people decided to leave ATV Marburg and transfer to ATV Kurhessen.

blossom

In the summer semester of 1927, the ATV Kurhessen suddenly became known in Marburg and the Marburg area. Because in the summer of 1927 the Philipps University was 400 years old. On this occasion, the Aktivitas of ATV Kurhessen provided the group of sword dancers in historical uniforms for the historical parade, the subsequent festival on the market square and the folk festival on the Schlossberg. The ATV Kurhessen was the only and youngest Marburg corporation mentioned by name in the university's festschrift.

At the end of the summer semester of 1927 there were 120 old men in the AHV. It was decided to buy the house at Lutherstrasse 11 and a third of the purchase price was donated by the AHV. The renovation began immediately and the house was handed over to Aktivitas at Pentecost 1928. In the summer semester of 1928, ATV Kurhessen accepted 21 foxes. In 1932, after the swimming ace Lambert vocatus Molly Kurhesse had become, they won the swimming relay over 4 × 100 and 4 × 400 meters of crawl. Molly also won the individual championships. The Bbr. Erdmann vocatus Master, southwest German university champion in sprint, led the 10 × 100 meter relay at the proud time of 1: 54.9. This time was not reached again by any corporation in Marburg.

National Socialism

On May 17, 1933, it was decided that the Kurhessen would join the SA as a whole with their activities . In the winter semester 1934/35 three, in the summer semester 1935 one Fux joined the Kurhessen. From May 30th to May 1st June 1936 the Electorate of Hesse celebrated their last foundation festival. On June 20, 1936 it was decided to dissolve the active federation. A total of 96 Kurhessen were admitted to the AHV and renamed the "Association of former Kurhessen". On February 26, 1939, this was dissolved by resolution. The club gave its fortune to the house club of the former ATV Marburg. With that the era of the ATV Kurhessen came to an end. The ATV Kurhessen Circle of Friends has existed since then.

Since 1969, the Friends of the ATV Kurhessen organized numerous reunion festivals. For the 100th anniversary of the ATV Marburg foundation in 1988, the Kurhessen that were still able to travel appeared closed.
