The AVE Group , AVE Energie AG Oberösterreich Umwelt GmbH, is an Upper Austrian waste disposal company that was established in 1991 and is based in Hörsching . The trademark rights were sold in 2014 by Energie AG Oberösterreich to the Czech EP Industries . Today the AVE operates under the name Energie AG Oberösterreich Umwelt Service GmbH and is only active in Austria and South Tyrol .
The enterprise
The AVE Group was created with the diversification strategy of the Upper Austrian energy supplier Energie AG Oberösterreich (formerly OKA). With its participation in Welser Abfallverwertungsgesellschaft mbH (WAV for short), Oberösterreichische Kraftwerke AG (OKA for short, now Energie AG Oberösterreich ) entered the waste disposal sector in 1989. At the beginning of the nineties, OKA formed a joint venture with the German RWE Umwelt and began operationally to set up a refrigerator processing facility in Timelkam. Shortly afterwards, a majority stake in the private waste disposal company Kröpfel was taken over. In 2002, Energie AG took over half of RWE's share in AVE and, as a sole company, implemented a growth and internationalization strategy. In 2006, AVE became the intermediate holding company AVE Energie AG Oberösterreich Umwelt GmbH, which combined all of the Group's disposal activities in a total of nine countries in Central and Eastern Europe, from Austria to Moldova. At peak times, AVE employed a total of more than 5,200 people at around 160 locations.
The AVE subsidiary in Bavaria was sold to Heinz GmbH & Co. KG from Moosburg on September 26, 2011 .
Due to the changing framework conditions on the waste disposal market, a “strategy check” was started for the AVE Group in 2012, which ultimately led to restructuring and sales measures. The AVE activities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and the Ukraine were sold, including the naming rights, to the Czech EP Industries, as in June 2013. At this point in time, around 3,000 employees were working in the divested areas.
Since the sale, Energie AG Oberösterreich has only been active in the waste disposal sector in Austria and South Tyrol. The remaining parts of the AVE were renamed Energie AG Oberösterreich Umwelt Service GmbH and Energie AG Südtirol Umwelt Service GmbH in October 2014.
