Origin and background

After the release of the debut album For God and Country , drummer Rich McDermott left the band. He was replaced by Sean Sellers. The recordings for the album took place at Razor's Edge Studios in San Francisco . A total of 24 songs were recorded, including two cover versions , "Come Dancing" and "Hall of Fame" . The original performers were The Kinks and Government Issue . The song "Hall of Fame" was used as a hidden track . Produced A Comprehensive Guide to Moderne Rebellion by Ryan Greene and the band.

"Weight of the World" contains excerpts from the film You Live . Cinder Block, singer of the punk rock band Tilt, appears as a guest musician on “A Credit to His Gender” . The "Last Believer" song was for an episode of PBS - documentation about the former US president Lyndon B. Johnson named. The band released this song on their debut EP Gidget and re-recorded it for the album. For every album sold , the band donated $ 0.10 to the Food not bombs organization .

reception

According to Andy Hinds of Allmusic , A Comprehensive Guide to Modern Rebellion is Southern California hardcore for “the thinking punk ”. The music would still be good enough for those who don't read the lyrics. For Hanno Kress from the German magazine Rock Hard , the album is more fun than the Gidget EP, "because it has a little more to do with the originality of American punk". Kress gave the album eight out of ten points.
