Good Riddance is an American melodic hardcore band from Santa Cruz (California) founded in 1986 . The musicians themselves described their style of music as hardcore interspersed with pop-punk .
history
Their first release was Gidget in 1990 , a 7 "on a small independent label . The debut album For God and Country was released in 1995 on Fat Wreck Chords , where they released seven more albums. The group is particularly characterized by the often politically rich lyrics, who deal with topics such as capitalism and exploitation Similar to Rise Against , among others , the band members are committed to the animal rights organization PETA .
Vocalist Russ Rankin is also in the band since 2003. Only Crime operates, whose members include Bill Stevenson of the Descendents counts. Stevenson has been involved in producing several Good Riddance albums. Rankin also plays together with Chuck Platt in the band Creep Division , here as bassist. Luke Pabich and Sean Sellers formed the band Outlie in 2004 . Sean Sellers also plays drums for The Real McKenzies .
In April 2007 the band announced their breakup after three farewell concerts for May 2007. A reunion was announced in February 2012. The first confirmed shows include the Groezrock Festival in Belgium and the Resurrection Festival in Spain.
In spring 2015, Peace in Our Time, the first studio album in eight years, was released.
