Aardschok ( nl ., Earthquake 'or' quake ') is a Dutch metal - Magazine that there and in since 1980 Belgium appears. The paper was founded in October 1980 by "Metal Mike" van Rijswijk and Stefan Rooyackers.

history

The first edition appeared in 1980 with an edition of 500 copies. The magazine was the first publication to report exclusively on metal (although this was not differentiated from hard rock) and was a model for the German magazine Rock Hard , some of its editors got to know each other through the magazine's classifieds. The editors of Aardschok magazine accompanied bands such as Mercyful Fate and supported them by organizing performances. Before METAL HAMMER and the commercial ROCK HARD, a German edition appeared in 1983 with the German publisher Axel Thubeauville, which was discontinued in 1984. The German edition then became AARDSCHOK / ROCK POWER, but this issue was also discontinued at short notice. The paper is considered the leading hard rock and metal magazine in the Benelux countries, which is also noticed across national borders. André Verhuysen, who is one of the organizers of the metal festival Dynamo Open Air , also works in the editorial office .
