Aaron ben Joseph

Aaron ben Joseph (* around 1260 in Sudak , Crimea ; † around 1320) was a Karaean scribe .

Life

Aaron ben Joseph was a doctor and lived in Constantinople . He wrote commentaries on the Pentateuch , on the earlier and later prophets and on the Psalms, and worked out a grammatical and exegetical manual. Aaron ben Joseph also created a Karaite order of prayer and composed short excerpts for each week of the Mosaic books, which he included in his prayer book . His Mibchar Jesharim was commented on by Elias ben Abraham about 250 years after its creation .
