Aaskereia is a German band from the Black Forest , which is assigned to the Depressive Black Metal . The name corresponds to the Nordic word for wild hunt .

history

The band's first two musical signs of life in 1999 and 2001 were the two demo recordings Aus dem vereißten [sic!] Unterholz ... and Promo 2001 .

In 2003 the debut album With Raben und Wölfen followed , which was published on the music label Perverted Taste . In the same year the 7 ″ EP ... With the oath of our ancestors began the storm ... was self- published, followed by the mini-album Zwischen den Welten ... via Christhunt Productions a year later .

Then seven years passed before Aaskereia - again self-published - released the album Dort, where the old evil rests on CD in 2011 . It was re-released in 2012 as a double LP via Supreme Chaos Records and in 2016 as a cassette via Nebular Winter Productions .

In the meantime, more precisely: in 2007, the band played at the Ragnarök Festival . According to its own information from this time, Aaskerei never actively sought contact with record companies, rather the labels themselves approached the band.

style

Aaskereia started out as a “dull, raw pagan / black metal band”, which has become more musically experienced over the years. Around the year 2005, “some older records by Gorgoroth or Satyricon ” were named as musical references . Stylistically it is Black Metal in the direction of subgenres Depressive Black Metal concrete.

reception

With their debut album, the band has achieved quite a cult status in the "underground", according to metal.de . The work was "less convincing because of its compositional sophistication or technical adeptness" than because of "its absolutely raw, brutal atmosphere" and the "uniqueness" of the high-pitched vocals.
