Abílo de Deus de Jesus Lima (* in Ermera , Portuguese Timor ), Abílo Lima for short , is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Associação Social-Democrata de Timor (ASDT).

Career

Lima just finished secondary school. Later he was head of a militia.

Since August 30, 2007, he has been State Secretary for the Environment in Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão's cabinet . At a party congress in early 2008, the ASDT decided to fire its representatives in the government, Lima and Tourism Minister Gil da Costa Alves . She accused both politicians of corruption , of being too close to the Indonesian military and business community, and of not representing the ideology of the ASDT. The members of the ASDT in the national parliament opposed the decision of the party congress and Prime Minister Gusmão also refused to dismiss them, whereupon the ASDT signed an agreement with FRETILIN on future cooperation in early May. Nevertheless, the ASDT remained in the governing coalition. In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , the ASDT failed because of the three percent hurdle and Lima lost his post as State Secretary when the new government took office on August 8th.

Lima was later sentenced to prison for corruption.
