Abbo (Bishop of Verdun)

Abbo († 716 ) served as Bishop of Verdun from 715 to 716 .

Little is known about Abbo's life. He was a teacher at the monastery school and novice master at Tholey Abbey in the Trier diocese . Bertalamius was one of his students . He revered his teacher very much and managed to have Abbo nominated as his successor as Bishop of Verdun despite his old age. During Abbo's brief episcopate, the Diocese of Verdun suffered from the war that broke out between Austrasia and Neustria after the death of Pippin the Middle .
