Abdallah Boureima

Abdallah Boureima (born January 3, 1954 in Méhana ) is a Nigerien manager and politician .

Life

Abdallah Boureima studied at the University of Toulouse I and the University of Rennes I in France . He graduated with a Maîtrise in Business Management and a Diplôme d'études supérieures spécialisées in Banking and Finance. He himself lectured at the Faculty of Law and Economics at Niamey University .

Boureima initially worked as a civil servant in management positions for various Nigerien ministries. In the early 1990s he became a member of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya). From 1993 to 1994 he was Minister of Finance and Planning in the Niger government under President Mahamane Ousmane ( CDS-Rahama ) and Prime Minister Mahamadou Issoufou (PNDS-Tarayya). Boureima worked in Niger as a manager for various banking, insurance and mining companies. Among other things , he was vice director of the Société Nigérienne de Banque (Sonibank) and manager of the Société des Mines du Liptako (SML).

Abdallah Boureima worked from 1999 to 2004 as a member of the Banking Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). From 2004 to 2011 he was General Director of the West African bank holding Groupe de la Banque Régionale de Solidarité (BRS). He was appointed a member of the UEMOA Commission in 2011, where he was responsible for the Economic and Tax Policy Department. He chaired the convergence committee several times, which was responsible for the monetary and economic policy coherence of the West African Economic and Monetary Union and the Central African Economic and Monetary Community . Since 2017, Boureima has succeeded Cheikh Hadjibou Soumaré as Commission President of the UEMOA.
