Cheikh Hadjibou Soumaré (born October 24, 1951 in Dakar ) was Prime Minister of Senegal from 2007 to 2009 .

From September 1991 to September 1995 he was at the Bank of Credit and Commerce International Sénégal, then from September 1995 to July 16, 1996 technical advisor to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning, until August 1, 2000 director of the budget and until August 23, 1996. May 2001 General Director of Finance.

He joined the Ministry of Economy and Finance on May 23, 2001 as Budget and Budget Officer. He stayed that way until after the parliamentary elections on June 3, 2007. On June 19, 2007, President Abdoulaye Wade appointed him Prime Minister.

Soumaré is a technocrat and is not a member of the ruling Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS). The coalition, of which the PDS is a part, won a large majority of the seats in the parliamentary elections due to the boycott of the opposition. Soumaré's government, with 37 members (excluding Soumaré), was also appointed on June 19. It is composed similarly to the previous Macky Sall government and does not include the opposition. Soumaré and his new government were sworn in on June 21st. On December 3, 2007, Soumaré's government was reduced to 28 members.

After the local elections in March 2009, Soumaré resigned from his post as Prime Minister, with Souleymane Ndéné Ndiaye appointed as his successor .
