Meliani produces small-format collages from various materials such as sand, fabric, wool and paper in a poetic, sometimes representational style, whose play with light and colors can at best suggest a topic. He often borrows structures and harmonious color compositions from the knotting and weaving techniques of traditional Moroccan carpets. He illustrated the book of poems L'Ivre poème by the Moroccan writer Abdelhak Serhane , published in 1989 .

In addition, he paints areas of color in relief with acrylic on nettle in formats that fill the wall with a spatula, from whose often brown-earthy or dark red background graphic forms that can still be recognized as representational emerge. Things are reduced to the essentials of their outlines and remain ambiguous in their function.
