Abdeslam Ouaddou ( Arabic عبد السلام وادو, DMG ʿAbd as-Salām Wādū ; *  November 1, 1978 in Ksar Azekour ) is a former Moroccan football player who was active as a central defender in the major leagues in France, England, Greece and Qatar.

Career

Ouaddou moved from AS Nancy to English club Fulham in 2001 for £ 2m . There he could not assert himself, and so he was awarded to the French club Stade Rennes for two years before they committed him in 2005. In 2006 he ventured to Greece to the top club Olympiacos Piraeus , but after only six months and only six league appearances he asked those responsible to terminate his contract for family reasons.

His contract was eventually terminated and Ouaddou returned to France, where he joined Valenciennes FC in January 2007 .

In 2008 he returned to AS Nancy, where he was awarded a four-year contract. In 2010 he left the club and went to Lekhwiya in the Qatar Stars League in July 2010 . In 2011 he moved within the league to Qatar SC, before briefly returning to the French league for AS Nancy in 2013. After his return, he vehemently criticized the working conditions in Qatar: “When you work in Qatar, you belong to someone. You are no longer free, you are a slave. "

For Morocco, Ouaddou took part in the 2000 Olympic football tournament. In 2002 he made his debut in the senior national team of Morocco . In 2004, 2006 and 2008 he was in Morocco's squad for the African Championship . The greatest success with the national team was reaching the finals in 2004, when hosts Tunisia had to admit defeat 1: 2.
