The al-Duhail Sports Club ( al-Duhail SC for short ; Arabic نادي الدحيل الرياضي, DMG Nādī d-Duḥail ar-riyāḍī , until 2017 Lekhwiya SC ) is a sports club from Doha in Qatar . The men's soccer team plays in the country's highest league, the Qatar Stars League .

history

The association was founded in 1938 as al-Shorta Doha and was renamed Lekhwiya SC in 2009 . In the 2009/10 season the club reached the final of the Sheikh Jassim Cup , which they lost against al-Arabi 0-1. In the same year one rose to the Qatar Stars League . After promotion, the squad was strengthened for the 2010/11 season with Aruna Dindane , Bakari Koné and Abdeslam Ouaddou , among others . At the end of the season they won the championship title for the first time and qualified for the AFC Champions League . The club won the championship title four more times in the following six seasons.

For the 2017/18 season , the club merged with al-Jaish to form al-Duhail SC .
