Abdulrazak Gurnah (2009)

Abdulrazak Gurnah (born in the Protectorate of Zanzibar in 1948 ) is a Tanzanian writer who lives and works in Great Britain .

Life

From 1980 to 1982 Gurnah taught at Bayero University Kano in Kano , Nigeria . He then went to the University of Kent , where he received his doctorate in 1982 and has been teaching there in exile since then.

Gurnah was a 2016 judge for the Man Booker Prize
