Hessian Literature Forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hessian Literature Forum in Mousonturm eV was founded in 1985 as the "Hessian Literature Office" and initially stayed in the House of Encounters in Frankfurter Gärtnerweg, until shortly after the renovation work on the Mousonturm was completed, it moved into rooms where it still resides today. In 2002 it was renamed "Hessisches Literaturforum im Mousonturm eV". The Hessian Literature Forum is, together with the Roman factory founded in the same year, one of the oldest public institutions for literary events in Frankfurt am Main .

Co-founder and first managing director was the poet Paulus Böhmer , followed in 2002 by Werner Söllner . After his resignation in 2010, Harry Oberländer took over this position. The literary scholar Björn Jager has been program director and managing director since 2016 .

The offer includes readings, discussions and panel discussions. In addition, writing seminars are held several times a year. One of the central areas of responsibility is also the promotion and support of young authors, in particular earlier with the Hungertuch Prize founded by VS Hessen in 1976 "as a counter prize to the Frankfurt Book Fair " , and currently as part of the writing competition " Young Literature Forum Hessen-Thuringia ". Since 2013, the Hessian Literature Forum has been organizing the state-wide literature festival "Leseland Hessen" on behalf of the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art , and since 2014 the youth writing competition "without point and comma".

Since 1986, the literary forum has published the literary magazine “L. Der Literaturbote ”and has been the office of the Hessian Reading Promotion since 2004 . It is based in the Mousonturm artist house in Frankfurt .
