Abdumalik Abdulladzhanov

Abdumalik Abdullajanow ( Tajik Абдумалик Абдуллоҷонов; born January 1, 1949 in Khujand , Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a former Tajik politician and statesman. He was Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan from 1992 to 1993 .

biography

Abdulladschanow comes from an influential Tajik aristocratic family. His grandfather was a famous scholar and theologian in his day who fled to Saudi Arabia in 1922 , where he served Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud , the founder and first king of the Saud dynasty .

In 1971 Abdulladzhanov graduated from the Odessa Technological University with a degree in engineering . He then worked as a shift supervisor and director of the mill in the city of Kairakkum in northwest Tajikistan.

From 1980, Abdulladschanow was Deputy Minister for Production and Procurement, from 1986 Deputy Minister, then and until Tajikistan declared independence in 1991 as Minister for Bread Products of the Tajik SSR.

On September 21, 1992, Abdullajanov was appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan. Because of differences of opinion and dissatisfaction with the policies of Emomalij Rahmon , he resigned in December 1993.

From 1993 to 1994 Abdulladzhanov was Tajikistan's ambassador to Russia .

In the presidential election in Tajikistan in 1994 , Abdulladzhanov ran unsuccessfully for the presidential post. In 1996 he founded the political bloc "National Unity". He was also the leader of the opposition movement "National Rebirth" in northern Tajikistan. Tajik government accuses Abdulladzhanov of being behind the 1997 assassination attempt against President Rahmon. He is also accused of organizing the anti-government riots in Sughd Province in 1998.

Abdulladzhanov has lived in exile in the USA since the mid-1990s . On February 5, 2013, he was arrested at Kiev-Boryspol Airport at the request of the Tajik security authorities . The Ukrainian side refused the application to extradite Abdullajanov to Tajikistan, and he was released a month later.
