Abel Enrique Aguilar Tapias (born January 6, 1985 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian football player . He occupies the position of a midfielder .

Career

Abel Enrique Aguilar Tapias started his career at Deportivo Cali . For the 2005/06 season the Colombian came to Serie A promoted Ascoli Calcio . Here he was never used, so that Aguilar moved to league rivals Udinese Calcio in the same season . Since things weren't going very well for him at Udine either, he left Italy in the summer of 2007 and went to the Spanish second division club Deportivo Xerez . From 2010 to 2012 he played again with Hércules Alicante . For the 2012/13 season he moved to Deportivo La Coruña . After stints at FC Toulouse and Belenenses Lisbon , he returned to Deportivo Cali in Colombia in 2016. After two years there, he moved to the USA for FC Dallas . To end his career he went back to Colombia to Unión Magdalena .

National team

Aguilar was the captain of the Colombian U17 and U21.

He got his first appearance in the senior national team at the Copa América 2004 in Peru. He scored two goals and reached the semi-finals with the team.

He was part of the Colombian squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. His first World Cup game was the group game against Greece, which could be won 3-0.

He was part of the Colombian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia . He came to a use and retired with the team in the round of 16 against England on penalties.
