The Bundesgymnasium, Bundesrealgymnasium and Wirtschaftskundliche Realgymnasium for working people in Vienna (also called evening high school Vienna ) is a public evening school that leads to the Matura .
history
The evening grammar school was founded in 1925, making it one of the oldest evening grammar schools in Europe. After the First World War , Wanda Lanzer and apprentices from the Mollardgasse vocational school initiated preparatory courses for obtaining the secondary school diploma. In 1925 the “Mittelschulkurs” received official approval from the City School Council for Vienna . The educational director of the new institution was Arthur Pollak .
In 1939 the evening school was finally closed. In 1945 the social partners re-established it as a “ middle school for workers ” . The private school was given public rights and became a federal school by parliamentary resolution in 1960. Alfred Bohmann and Ferdinand Hübner were the directors during the reconstruction period .
In the 1990s, under Director Oskar Achs, the duration of the course was shortened to eight semesters and distance learning was introduced in the winter semester of 2010/11 under Klaus Brandl .
The move to Brünner Straße 72 took place in the 2014/15 winter semester , after the school had been located on Henriettenplatz for decades and also in Singrienergasse 21 for a few years .
