Abendroth School

The building of the Abendroth School Cuxhaven in Cuxhaven , Abendrothstraße 20, is under the protection of historical monuments in Lower Saxony and is included in the list of architectural monuments in Cuxhaven .

history

The three- story clinker brick building from 1907 with two small side wings, a high base, the mezzanine floor and a central tower with a bell- shaped bell , a lantern and the clock as well as a hipped roof was built in the historicist style as an elementary school for boys with 15 classrooms. It was an all boys 'school until 1934 and was then a girls' school. In 1970 it became a primary school for boys and girls. In 2003/04 the school was modernized.

Abendroth School

The Abendroth School is used today as a three-class elementary school and has 12 classrooms, two support rooms, a work room, a teaching kitchen, a daycare center, the auditorium and the school library as well as a large and a small sports hall. The headmaster is currently (2020) Anjuta Günther.

The school was named after the Hamburg lawyer, senator, Ritzebüttel bailiff and since 1831 mayor August Abendroth (1767–1842).

The association of the Abendroth primary school in Cuxhaven supports the school. The school camp association from 1970 is responsible for the school camp in the Wingst, which is part of the Abendroth school .

The Amandus-Abendroth-Gymnasium is in the neighborhood.
