Abrão da Costa José Freitas (born June 30, 1975 in Baucau , Portuguese Timor ), fighting name Mate Restu , is an East Timorese politician and former civil servant. He is a member of the Partidu Libertasaun Popular (PLP).

Career

At the first national congress of the PLP on May 20, 2017, Freitas was elected as the first deputy party chairman under PLP leader Taur Matan Ruak .

Freitas was director of prevention at the Comissão Anti-Corrupção (CAC) until he was elected to the national parliament of East Timor in the national parliament of East Timor at number 4 in the PLP's 2017 elections. Here he became Vice-Chairman of the Commission on Health, Education, Culture, Veterans and Gender Equality (Commission F). In the parliamentary elections in 2018 , Freitas missed entering parliament on list position 47 of the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso (AMP), the joint list of PLP, CNRT and KHUNTO . Since party leader Taur Matan Ruak became prime minister in the new government , Freitas took over the post of interim chairman of the PLP.
