from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abraham ben Solomon von Torrutiel (* 1482 , † in the 16th century) was a North African - Jewish historian of Spanish origin.

On the occasion of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, he came to Fez (today Morocco ) with his family at the age of ten . Around 1510 he wrote a Hebrew chronicle as a continuation of Ibn Daud's Sefer ha-Kabbalah . The first part contains additions to this chronicle, the second part covers the period up to 1463. The third part includes a chronicle of the Spanish kings from a Jewish perspective, followed by a description of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain and their settlement in Morocco. This part is of particular interest because Abraham ben Solomon witnessed the events of 1492 as an eyewitness. The chronicle was first published in 1887 by Adolf Neubauer . Certain Kabbalistic writings are also ascribed to Abraham ben Solomon .
