Abrupolis
Abrupolis ( Greek Ἀβρουπόλις ) was in the period from before 179 to after 172 BC. A king of the Thracian tribe of the Sapaeans .
Abrupolis was established after 200 BC. Admitted to the friends and allies ( amici et socii ) of the Romans . After the death of the Macedonian king Philip V (179 BC) he invaded the territory of his son and successor Perseus , devastated it as far as Amphipolis and annexed the gold mines of Pangaion . Perseus' counter-offensive then drove him out of his empire. The Romans did not react immediately to the disempowerment of their ally. This served them later (172 BC) as a reason for war against the Macedonian king. They demanded that Perseus must reinstate his opponent Abrupolis in his rule. There is no tradition about the later life and year of death of the abrupolis.
