Goal kick is a game continuation in football . It must not be confused with the tee shot and must be taken when the ball is last touched by a player from the attacking team and completely crosses the goal line without a goal being scored. The goal kick is carried out by a player of the defending team, usually the goalkeeper . The ball must rest at any point in the goal area and is "in play" as soon as it moves. A goal can be scored directly from a goal kick (but only in favor of the executing team).

Regulations

  • The kicker may not touch the ball a second time before it has been touched by another player.
  • The goal kick is always to be taken with the foot, even if the goalkeeper takes it.
  • The goal kick is taken from anywhere in the goal area, but this should be as close as possible to the place where the ball left the field of play in order to keep the interruption in play as short as possible.
  • The players of the attacking team must be outside the defending team's penalty area at the time of the goal kick .
  • The ball is in play as soon as it moves.
  • If the ball is played into one's own goal when kicking, a corner kick is to be decided.
  • There is no offside when kicking .

The executing team is allowed to take the goal kick in the sense of a quick continuation of the game even if not all opposing players have left the penalty area.

If an opponent runs into the penalty area while taking a goal kick before the ball is "in play" and is fouled by a defender, the goal kick is repeated anyway and the defender is cautioned or sent off depending on the severity of the offense.

The referee does not necessarily need to have a goal kick taken when the playing time of one half has expired. He can end the game earlier with the half-time or final whistle.

Special feature: If there is no explicit goal area on a small pitch, the implementation regulations usually stipulate that the penalty area replaces the goal area.

Penalties for breaking the rules

Execution by an outfield player: If a player touches or plays the ball a second time during the goal kick (except with the hand) before it has been touched or played by another player, an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team at the point where the offense occurred. If he touches it with his hand in the situation described above, a direct free kick or penalty (for this offense in the penalty area) is awarded to the opposing team.

Execution by the goalkeeper: If the goalkeeper touches or plays the ball again (except with the hand) after it has put it into play before another player touches it, the opposing team is also awarded an indirect free kick at that point on which the offense occurred. However, if he touches it with his hand in the situation described above, the opposing team will be awarded a direct free kick or indirect free kick (for this offense in the penalty area) .

If there is any other violation of this rule, the kick is repeated.

technology

Often the ball is hit in half of the opponent when kicking over longer distances. The repelling player usually runs at a slightly inclined approach to the ball. With long kicks, the upper body should be slightly inclined behind the ball, the ankle should be stretched and firm. The ball should be hit with the instep just below the center of the ball.
