Abstract Rude , real name Aaron Pointer , is a rapper from Los Angeles . He is the MC of the group Abstract Tribe Unique (consisting of him, Zulu (dancer / drums), DJ Drez (beats) and Fat Jack (producer), as well as a member of The A-Team (together with Aceyalone), Haiku D. 'Budget (together with Aceyalone and Mykah-9) and code name: Scorpion (together with Prevail and Moka Only ).

Artistic career

Abstract Rude has been interested in black music such as blues , jazz , soul , funk , groove , reggae , RNB and, over time, hip-hop since early childhood . At first he wrote rap lyrics only for himself and his friends, but in the early 1990s he began performing on the nearby Project Blowed . There he learned a. a. Zulu and DJ Drez who were known as a group of dancers under the name Tribe Unique . Since both were convinced of his talent as an MC, they joined forces with him and formed Abstract Tribe Unique (often also abbreviated to ATU ). Over time, Abstract Rude also caught the attention of Fat Jack , a well-known independent producer. He also joined ATU and produced almost all of the group's future albums and other releases.

In 1995 Abstract Rude was executive producer of the Project Blowed tape, which served as an art sampler for Project Blowed artists such as Freestyle Fellowship and CVE. Abstract Rude also contributed some features himself and was also represented in some solo tracks on the tape. It is believed that it was at this point that he established close contacts with Aceyalone. Later on, the two were to record several tracks together as "The A-Team" and even release a whole album ( Who Framed The A-Team ).

In 1997 the first LP was released by ATU at Ocean Floor Records , Underground Fossils , which already caused a small underground circles for attention. This was followed in 1998 by the album Mood Pieces , which was mainly characterized by the beats reminiscent of ambient and soul and was released by MassMen Records . In the same year, South Central Thynk Taynk also appeared on Ocean Floor Records , which continued this concept and was praised by critics and fans of alternative hip hop alike.

In 2000 Abstract Rude was represented on the Cater to the DJ compilation by Fat Jack and brought out the album Who framed the A-Team together with Aceyalone as The A-Team . In 2001 the next ATU album called PAINT was released on BattleAxe Records . This album is still considered by many fans today as the high point in terms of creativity, atmosphere and lyrical diversity of ATU .

In 2003 ATU's last album called Showtyme was released, followed by the three albums Making Tracks , Making More Tracks and Still Making Tracks by Abstract Rude from 2002 to 2004, which contain unreleased songs and songs that have not appeared on any regular ATU album. of him included. In 2005 Abstract Rude produced the These Walls EP together with the German MC Taktloss , which was released on FDB Rekords and dealt with worldwide tyranny and oppression.
