The Abbey Triors is since 1984 French monastery of the Benedictine in Triors , Drome region , Roman Catholic Diocese of Valence .

history

Charles de Lionne (1616–1701) built Triors Castle in 1667 (northwest of Romans-sur-Isère ), which later passed into the hands of the Du Bouchage family. After the death of the last owner in 1976, the adopted daughter Josepha du Bouchage († 2000) donated the castle for the establishment of an ancient ritualistic monastery. The Benedictine Abbey of Fontgombault took over the property and founded the subsidiary Notre-Dame de l'Immaculée-Conception in 1984 , which was elevated to an abbey in 1994. The newly built monastery church was consecrated in 1996.

The monastery belongs to the Congregation of Solesmes and is assigned to Catholic traditionalism . The monks are famous for their Gregorian chant. Since 1988 the Holy Mass has been celebrated as an indult mass in the pre-conciliar rite , which the monks still adhere to today. As in Fontgombault, the Office is also prayed in the form customary before the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council .
