Academy Charles Cros
Academy Charles Cros ( French Académie Charles-Cros ) is an organization in Paris that acts as an intermediary between the French government and the cultural industry. It is the French equivalent of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, which annually awards the Grammy Awards .
history
The academy consists of fifty members from the music critics , music industry and culture . It was founded in 1947 by Roger Vincent , Armand Panigel , José Bruyr , Antoine Golea , Franck Ténot , Pierre Brive and Marc Pincherle . The academy's name was given in honor of the poet and inventor Charles Cros , a friend of Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine . Since 1948 the organization has awarded the Grand Prix du Disque every year for outstanding achievements in music.
