Académie Louvain
The Académie Louvain in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve is the association of French-speaking Roman Catholic universities in Belgium . It was founded in 2004 as a result of the Bologna Process (creation of a single European higher education area). Affiliated are:
- Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve
- Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur
- Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis (FUSL) in Brussels
- Facultés universitaires catholiques de Mons (FUCaM) in Mons
After almost three years of cooperation in this association, the rectors of the four universities decided on March 12, 2007 to enter into negotiations with the aim of merging the four institutions into a single university. Each institution would then be a campus of the Université catholique de Louvain .
