history

AcadeMedia was founded in 1996 as an adult education company. In 2007 the company began to expand by taking over other educational institutions, initially NTI (“Nordens Teknikerinstitut”), Knowledge Partner Syd and LBS-Schule. This was followed by further acquisitions and mergers with Anew Learning (2008, including Vittra) and Hermods (2014). AcadeMedia AB has also been active in Germany since February 2016. AcadeMedia AB is expanding its European business with the takeover of the Joki Kinderbetreuung daycare group, which operates seven bilingual day nurseries and kindergartens in Munich. The Berlin daycare group Stepke has also been part of the group since April 2017. In March 2018, the 12 facilities of KTS Verwaltungs GmbH (Kita Luna & Zwergerlhaus) in Munich also joined the group. The Norwegian Espira childcare has also been in Germany since 2018.

From 2001 AcadeMedia was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Initially, the stock was in free float until 2010 when large shares were bought by EQT (79.6%) and Providence (17.7%). In the same year AcadeMedia was taken off the stock exchange and in 2011 became the sole property of EQT. Since 2016 the share has been traded again on Nasdaq Stockholm.
