The accadis International School Bad Homburg is an international independent school with the status of a state-recognized replacement school in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe . It includes an international kindergarten , an international primary school and an international grammar school where the International Baccalaureate (IB) can be taken.
The educational institution was founded in 2004 and belongs to the umbrella company accadis Bildung, which also operates the accadis Hochschule Bad Homburg .
education
The school follows different curricula. The kindergarten is based on the “Early Learning Goals and Stepping Stones” of the British education system. German and English are equal teaching languages that are taught using the immersion method. The International Business School is the only international school in the Rhine-Main area that works according to the inclusion method .
In kindergarten, the children are made familiar with the two languages English and German with the help of the immersion method . All content is taught in both languages, which is why the children learn both English and German as their own mother tongue. The accadis bilingual kindergarten works in mixed-age groups:
- Daisy groups (two to three years)
- Sunflower groups (three to four years old)
From the age of five, children can go to the entry level of accadis primary school.
The two languages English and German are also learned at the entrance level using the immersion method. The school follows the principle of "one face, one language". The accadis ISB entry level is considered to be the immediate preparation year for the first school year. The content of the curriculum and the daily routine of the class is closely linked to the first class. Like all other classes at accadis ISB, the entry level is offered as all-day care.
In primary school, accadis International School follows the Hessian curriculum for primary schools. This is expanded through the bilingualism and also in terms of content to further learning offers, such as science lessons and ethics. The children study in small classes so that the teachers have the opportunity to identify special needs or special talents. English and German are regarded as equivalent languages at accadis ISB. In addition, Spanish is offered as an option. The primary school is also offered as all-day care. The International School offers bilingual instruction. This means that several hours per week are spent teaching the partner language, while the other part is taught in the mother tongue.
The languages of instruction in the ISB grammar school are English and German. The English language is given greater weighting so that international students can follow the lessons more easily and German students learn English more quickly. From the fifth to the tenth grade, accadis ISB follows the Hessian framework plan and uses both languages equally. At accadis ISB, students learn Spanish from the fifth grade onwards, and a Chinese club can also be attended in the afternoon. The math classes are held in English only. The upper level of accadis ISB can be completed with the International Abitur / International Baccalaureate . This qualification entitles you to study at a university or a technical college. IB students each choose one subject from five different subject groups. You take one or more languages, social sciences, experimental natural sciences, and math.
Furthermore, there is the possibility of intensive science lessons by offering various excursions to science learning locations.
Students and teachers
The international faculty has, depending on the subjects, either a German state examination for teaching qualifications or a foreign degree in education. Only "native speakers" are used for lessons in German, English and Spanish.
