Jason Joseph Euell (born February 6, 1977 in London ) is a Jamaican-English soccer player who has been under contract with Charlton Athletic since 2011 . Born in England , the son of a Jamaican played for the Jamaican national football team from 2004 to 2005 .

Player career

Wimbledon FC

Euell started his playing career at FC Wimbledon in his hometown of London . In 1995 Jason Euell, who came from the club's youth academy, made his debut with the English first division team at the age of 18. In the Premier League 1996/97 he reached a good eighth place in the table with his team, but was only used sporadically (7 games / 2 goals). After there had already been an increase in the operating time in the following season, he made the breakthrough in the Premier League in 1998/99 at Wimbledon. In 33 league games he scored ten goals. His club spent most of the season in relegation battle and was relegated a year later as third-bottom from the Premier League in 1999/2000 . In the 2000/01 season he achieved his best result for Wimbledon in the second-rate First Division by scoring 19 goals in 36 games. After the missed promotion, he moved to Charlton Athletic for 4.75 million pounds .

Charlton Athletic

After moving within London, he was now back in the Premier League . Jason Euell was a regular player and scored eleven and ten league goals respectively in his first two years. Charlton Athletic spent this time in the lower third of the table, but reached a good seventh place in the table in the 2003/04 season . Jason Euell (31 games / 10 goals) was also able to score double-digit again. In the next two years his playing times were reduced and after an injury he was unable to return to the regular formation. The second club change followed for £ 300,000 to Middlesbrough FC . In Middlesbrough , however, he did not succeed in returning to the road to success. In 17 appearances in the Premier League 2006/07 , he did not score a single goal. After he was not considered at the beginning of the new season by coach Gareth Southgate , Boro let him move to Southampton FC after just one year on a free transfer .

Southampton FC

Euell played in the second division for the first time in six years with his new club. He quickly fought for a regular place and scored three goals in 38 league games. Southampton played a mixed year and barely prevented relegation from the 2007/08 Football League Championship . A year later this did not succeed and so after the penultimate place in the Football League Championship 2008/09 the bitter move into the third-rate Football League One followed . Euell (24 games / 2 goals) then moved to league rivals FC Blackpool .

Blackpool FC

Blackpool only played in the second division again in 2007 after a long dry spell . The season in the Football League Championship 2009/10 was very successful for the club. After a sixth place in the regular season, Euell's team (31 games / 4 goals) rose to the Premier League after play-off victories over Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City .

Coach Ian Holloway has only sporadically relied on Jason Euell, now 33 , in the current 2010/11 Premier League . The team started the season surprisingly well and has so far been able to keep the relegation places at a distance.

AFC Wimbledon

On January 10, 2012 it was announced that Jason Euell would initially be loaned to AFC Wimbledon for five weeks .
