from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Achi ( Hebrew אח״י, lit. my brother , and acronym for Eretz Chevra Jahadut ( Hebrew ארץ חברה יהדות), lit. Country, Society, Judaism ) is a right-wing conservative Zionist party in Israel.

history

The party was founded on March 21, 2005 when Effi Eitam and Yitzchak Levy left the National Religious Party (NRP) during the 2003 general election to the 16th Knesset. It was then part of the National Union from 2006 to 2008 .

On December 23, 2008, Achi left the National Union. For the 2009 parliamentary elections, Achi was on Likud's electoral list , with Shalom Lerner in 39th place and Edmund Hasin in 45th place on the electoral list. Since the Likud only won 28 seats, no Achi candidate could get into the Knesset.
