Achim Bellmann

Achim Bellmann (born July 27, 1957 in Munster ) is a former modern pentathlon and Olympic participant in 1984 in Los Angeles . After switching to fencing, he became German champion there too .

Career

At the Junior World Championships in 1977 in San Antonio, Texas, he won silver behind the Soviet athlete Vasily Nefedov. At the German championships in modern pentathlon in 1982 he was runner-up, in 1983 he took third place. At the Olympic Games in 1984 he finished 14th in the individual ranking and reached sixth place with the German team.

In 1985 he joined the fencing camp and was in the same year German Champion and World Champion with the German team in epee fencing . Achim Bellmann has been racing for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen since the 1980s . He was married to Christiane Weber and they have two children.
