Achim Glückler (born August 10, 1964 in Maulbronn ) is a former German professional footballer .

career

Glückler comes from Mühlacker, he played several international matches for various youth teams of the DFB and played in the youth of VfB Stuttgart . In the 1983/84 championship season, the striker made a brief appearance in the 5-1 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern when he came on for Hermann Ohlicher in the 81st minute when he was 4-0 .

In the summer of 1984, Glückler moved to Karlsruher SC , for whom he met once in nine first division games. In a game between KSC and 1. FC Köln, Glückler overcame the then national goalkeeper Toni Schumacher . At the end of the season Karlsruhe only reached 17th place in the table, so Glückler had to move into the second division with the club. There he played two more times for Karlsruhe.

After two years in Baden, Glückler moved to league competitor SSV Ulm 1846 , who had made it back up from the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . In two second division years he came to the sparrows on 28 games in which he scored five goals.

After the club was relegated again in 1988, Glückler disappeared from the scene of professional football. The reason was the serious injury (tibia and fibula fracture followed by compartment syndrome) that he sustained in October 1987. Because of the injury, Glückler was threatened with amputation and had to undergo a number of operations over a long period of time. Nevertheless, a few years later he worked for lower-class clubs, initially at PSG Pforzheim, the Büchenbronn sports club and SV Oberderdingen.

From 2006 to 2010, Glückler worked as a trainer for the district league club SV Horrheim . For the 2010/11 season he moved with his long-time assistant coach Thomas Aspiron to FV Bauerbach , where he narrowly missed the targeted promotion to the A-class with 3rd place in the 2010/11 season. In the following season things went better and FV Bauerbach wintered in 1st place in the table. After the loss of the FVB Libero due to injury, Achim Glückler played almost all games as a player-coach at the age of 47. On January 29, 2013 it was announced that Glückler will be moving to TSV Ötisheim as a coach in the 2013/2014 season .

Glückler also belongs to the traditional team of VfB Stuttgart, for which he takes part in charity games. He pursues professional football from a critical distance, and Glückler works in the real estate industry.
