Achim Wichert (born March 9, 1934 in Leipzig ; † May 10, 2008 ) was a German opera singer (baritone) and professor of singing at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .

Life

Wichert studied at the Leipzig University of Music and then committed himself to Quedlinburg and Halberstadt , before he came to the “Small House” (today's “ Musical Comedy ”) in Leipzig in 1961 . In 1974 he took on a role in the DEFA film Orpheus in the Underworld .

Achim Wichert sang a large number of important baritone roles at the Leipzig Opera House. For example, he was celebrated Figaro in the barber of Seville and sang the roles of Rigoletto and Count Liebenau.

Wichert was awarded the title Kammersänger on October 7, 1984 .
